These guys are the people you want to buy from! I got really lucky with finding them, so I’ll tell you my quick story. I was going through all the places that sell barrels, from Amazon and all over Google and there were so many mixed reviews from every vendor. I had thought I had found ‘the best of the worst’ that had the most success stories (can’t remember the name of that company), but they had a really great video that explained in great detail exactly what I needed to do in order to find success with my barrel and walked me through everything. They sent really great emails, with all the information I needed, videos, and just a couple little extras I wasn’t expecting. It’s been about a month since I ordered my barrels and they are PERFECT. Everything went exactly right, and I couldn’t be happier. It’s still too early for me to give a tasting review, but I’m not worried about that in the slightest. The barrel is worth every penny.

Good quality barrel. I cured mine with a dark stout beer. It leaked for three or four days and dried up. Drained it and filled with 110 Proof Straight corn whiskey. Now we wait.

So far, this is what’s happening. Got my 10 liter barrel and followed the directions. The barrel leaked like a sieve for three days. Kept following the directions as printed….on the fourth day there was a noticeable decrease in water loss. By the end of the aging process…no leaks what’s so ever. I haven’t used the barrel wax at all.
I’ve filled it with my own home made bourbon and started the aging process. I didn’t realize how much 10 liters were until after I made six batches of bourbon. I filled it with 65% ABV bourbon. Looking forward to taste testing in a few months. In a year I’ll cut it to 50% ABV and let you know how it comes out.
I will be purchasing a smaller barrel (5 liters) this summer. No question. about it. Oh, the angels cut make my wine/bourbon room smell great! The barrel itself looks great on the shelf. The water leakage while curing makes the barrel look unique. People have made positive comments on it. I gave a five star review because every thing has been as advertised and I con only expect the final output to be the same.

So far so good. I bought a 10 liter barrel, filled with hot water every 12 hours for 36 hours and then drained. Currently barrel aging some Manhattans.
I had planned for fairly cheap bourbon which would age nicely into a better product but ended up starting with a blend of Four Roses and Bulleit Rye as both had great deals on them.
I love the size as I am doing a big gift but it will be hard to reuse at this size (to expensive to fill!). However I may buy a 3 liter one later which I could reuse.

I have several 3 liter barrels, a 5 liter, and a 10 liter barrel. Curing and following the directions were easy and any small leaks were easily fixed with a small amount of barrel wax. I added a mix of high proof neutral spirits and my favorite bourbon into the barrels and the result just 4 weeks later is a very nice, mature tasting, smooth bourbon. In fact I like it just as much as the 15 year bourbon that costs $70 a bottle. I can without a doubt recommend these barrels and Redhead Barrels. The order process, shipping, and communication has been very good. I can hardly wait to see what it will taste like in another 2 to 3 weeks. So exciting.

Received the 10 liter barrel as a gift; added my own spice recipe and am in the process of aging some rum. After 6 weeks (spices came out after 48 hours), it has already mellowed nicely and should be ready in another 10 -12, though I’m tasting frequently to avoid over oaking. Will be purchasing a 2 liter soon, so I can try smaller batch bourbons etc. Great product, works as designed and really looks fantastic on the bar.

This is absolutely AMAZING!!!! I purchased the 10 liter for myself and a 3 liter for my wife. I have completed my first batch in my 10 liter with the Canadian flavoring and I added the vanilla flavoring to my wife’s. Sometimes things look too good to be true! This is not the case here! I could not believe how great the taste was even after just a few days! I have never written a review even when I really enjoyed the product, but I felt it absolutely necessary to write one for this product due to the customer service, quality of the product, ease of direction required to produce and the overall taste. I have not used the aging barrel yet but it looks like a great quality product. Just the perfect size for home users to impart that oak flavor. The ordering process was simple and efficient and the various update and informative emails I received while waiting for the product to be shipped was reassuring and nice. Overall, a good experience and I only gave them a four star until I have a chance to give the barrel a try (would give them a five star for everything else however.)
