Age Your Own Single Malt Scotch At Home In An Oak Barrel

Now you can purchase an 8, 10 or 12 year old single malt scotch at your local liquor store and age it at home so that you have a 14, 16 or 18 year old scotch for a fraction of the cost.  You will be surprised at the difference in taste and cost of an additional four years on scotch.

For example take a bottle of 15 year old Macallan Single Malt Scotch Whisky and let’s say you would rather have a bottle of the 18 year old scotch but don’t want to pay the extra cost. How can you get the extra three years of aging without waiting the three years?  Here’s how:

If you have a 1 liter Red Head Oak Barrel then 1.9 months is equal to 1 year in a standard 53 gallon oak barrel. So to get the extra three years it will only take about 25 weeks.  While it’s in the oak barrel you can add some more flavors or customize the scotch too.  Try adding some vanilla bean or maybe a cinnamon stick or perhaps some honey or fruits.  Let your imagination run wild and remember that you are only limited by your imagination.  Cheers!
